WORK WITH MASKING INDIANS

During COVID, the Krewe of Red Beans launched the Feed the Second Line initiative to create a critical safety net for the culture bearers of New Orleans. To help fund this movement, I created a beaned mosaic featuring the beautiful Queen Taj. Prints of this piece were sold through a campaign via the organization Where Ya'Art, with proceeds directly supporting our mission to provide food and employment to the city's venerated artists, musicians, and Masking Indians.

This effort extended into working closely with Feed the Second Line, and I had the incredible honor of collaborating directly with the 9th Ward Black Hatchet tribe, assisting in the structural design and fabrication of the intricate masking headpieces for both Big Chief Dowee and Wild Man Chuck.
